In the eighth episode of Mining Matters, ‘Responsible Minerals Value Chain: India-Zambia Resource Partnership’, Ian Chitumba Mwiinga, National Coordinator, EITI Secretariat, Zambia speaks with Tanima Pal, Research Associate, CSEP. The discussion centered around two broad areas: a) India-Zambia resource partnership in the space of critical minerals and b) mechanisms to ensure responsible and ethical mineral value chain. The discussion identified potential avenues for cooperation between India and Africa in enhancing mineral and energy security, fostering domestic value creation, leveraging existing economic partnerships and policy frameworks, and adhering to international sustainability standards. The speaker emphasised that integrating these sustainability guidelines significantly enhances ESG performance boosting credibility and transparency to investors and other stakeholders to foster a firm and long-term ‘social license to operate’.
