Utkarsh Patel is Fellow at CSEP and Visiting Scientist at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), Germany. He is also 2022-23 Yale Emerging Climate Leader. As a climate science and policy researcher, he uses integrated assessment models to evaluate least-cost mitigation pathways and the role of deep decarbonisation technologies such as green hydrogen and carbon capture and storage. His research interests include climate change policy for developing countries, particularly India, and international climate finance. An engineer and economist by training, Patel holds master’s degrees from Technical University Berlin and Madras School of Economics (Chennai).
